Hi, my name is Si Je Davina....
So I’m 38, a mum and to give you a little of my history, when I first joined I hadn’t done any fitness or martial arts. My 17 year relationship with the father of my son had just ended – not well, I have to say – and I’d spent more than a few of the years leading up to that point dealing with some very tough personal issues. I was unfit, desperately unhealthy in my body and mind, as well extremely low in self-belief.

Honestly, I started coming to the school as a means to put the broken pieces of myself back together. I needed a boost of self-confidence and self-esteem, I needed to get back out into the world and be around people again and when I saw how Family Wing Chun offered to help its students to achieve their goals – whatever those goals might be – in a safe, fun environment, I decided to take the plunge.

I can honestly say I’ve never looked back. The person writing to you now is radically different to the person who first arrived at the school. My life has changed and I’m on the most amazing journey – I’m having fun again and I can now see a bright future for myself and my son. I’m very lucky and grateful.

I know that for some of you this may be the first martial arts/fitness class you’ve tried out and I know how scary that can be. There may be those of you who have tried other classes that haven’t quite worked out for you and I know that can be disappointing. That’s why I’m working with Master Wells to produce a beginner programme that will teach our students useful personal defence skills, as well as getting us a bit fitter, a bit leaner and a whole lot meaner and hopefully provide that amazing sense of empowerment that you get from committing to a new personal challenge - and wrecking it.

At the end of the day we all deserve to the best version of ourselves, it’s just that sometimes we need a little inspiration, support and encouragement to get there. Here at Family Wing Chun, we are committed to helping you achieve your goals and I’d be delighted to be a part of your journey.
It’s exciting to see how many of you are interested in out Beginners Wing Chun’s Women only Martial Arts programme.

I came to Family Wing Chun to learn some self defence and exercise at the same time. After going for several weeks I began to understand the passion some people have towards the art and I absolutely love it.
I have been a member for over a year now and I go twice a week and I have been able to quit the gym as I am constantly motivated to exercise at home and in class.
Self defence is crucial in today's society and Wing Chun is the best practice for such events, but while you are at class you just have so much fun and you don't even realise how much you take on board. I am lucky enough to not need to use the skills that I have gained, but I know that my reflexes are sharper and that I feel more confident to know that I can defend myself when needed.
The atmosphere at the classes is fantastic, you have a great time with everyone, you learn invaluable skills and you become fit and active in the process. We are part of a community which gives you the support and encouragement within your personal goals, no matter what your starting point is.
I would completely recommend coming along to see what it is all about, you might be like me who came once and never left.
I would definitely recommend this place, I’ve been going for a couple of years now and it’s improved my confidence, awareness and fitness.
This martial arts school not only taught me self defence but also fitness, confidence and a way of perceiving the world that has changed my life. The Instructor is fair and very good at communicating across all levels of understanding. The junior classes are great for anti-bulling lessons and confident building in your children as they are taught to defend themselves in a non-violent manner which personal love. I would 100% recommend for adults and for kids.
